My Cozy Reading Nook

I have lots of great posts coming your way! Sorry for my lack of posts on here! I needed a break-a-roo. But, I have some fun reveals for you this week! I have been working on a reading nook for our living room! We have had a few things in this area, but I wasn't feeling it! I have been on a mission to get this space cozy and resourceful. I am loving the progress we have made!

Here is the updated pix! I am loving the warmth of this space. Don't you want to crawl up and read a book? I still want to add one chair here! I am wanting a chair with a fun pattern on it! The pillow is from ETSY. The blanket is from Macy's (wedding gift). 

Here is a pix of it the corner a couple weeks ago.

The girls kitchen has been moved again. We tend to put it in every room of our home! We started with Andy hanging the shelf that I scored at TJ Maxx for a deal! 

I got the table at a fabulous antique store in Rochester- Antiquity!!!! You must got there! They have great deals!  I owned the lamp already from West Elm. The mirrored frame is Target from a few years back.

 I heart the detailing on the chair. I got the chair from TJ Maxx!!!! 

The striped vases are 10 years old from a boutique in Minneapolis called Patina! I spray painted the feather white and gold leafed the tip! The mirrored frame is Target! I spray painted the mirror aqua too. It was black. 

The lantern is Pier One Imports from a few years ago. I just painted the watercolor art this weekend of our fam!

Mantels//2013

It is no secret, that I love having my fireplace mantel to decorate and switch out decor throughout the year. I shared with you last year my favs from 2012, here. I thought I would put together my themes from 2013 with you today! 

For the Valentines season, I had lots of hearts! I painted a canvas for the season using some good scripture as a reminder of what LOVE is. 

I had made the heart garland the year before with felt and embroidery floss. 

Once daffodils hit Trader Joes, they are in my house non stop! I love that they are under $2 and make my home happy!  I made the scrap bunting too. ( pretty sure, I am obsessed with all garland/bunting)

I love bright colors! 

I scored these paper flowers at West Elm on clearance! I put some moss balls on my cake stand! 

Fourth of July- I had a RED//WHITE//BLUE theme! 

I loved the fall mantels that I did! Noelle (our nanny) made these buntings with Zion! 

Zion painted the kernels! SOOOOO CUTE! 

Christmas essentials:  Glitters/sparkles/lights!

Kitchen Update- Shine your LIGHT!

Winner Winner. Chicken Dinner. We have new lights! I am love!!!! Thank you West Elm for always providing me with glorious beauty! Seriously, I love love love our lights. Our old ones are for sale if you are interested in purchasing them.....email me! I have been wanting to get something more fresh, modern and light. With our kitchen being more classic and mission style, I wanted to add some elements to play off it. Below- is a before picture to remind y'all.

Over our kitchen table, we hung a big drum shade! It is so pretty at night when it glows. I love how it has southwestern flare mixed with ikat. Praise.

I am lovin'

I am lovin' a couple things in my living room right now that I had to share with you! Our living room is like living in a studio apt. Everything happens in this room. It is the central hub for my family of 4. We love spending time in this room. We intentionally do not have a TV on our main floor. So this room is the room we play, eat, talk, gather, build forts, cuddle with our girls, go on the computer, rest, and enjoy life! I recently added a few things that I wanted to share with you! I love myself a good ETSY purchase. I just got these pillow covers on there. I got the geometric triangle one and the quote one! Aren't they cute? I love the geometric shapes that are trending right now. The quote says, "Let us lay in the sun and count every beautiful thing we can see." 

As I mentioned in my H54F, I have been creating a new gallery wall in my living room too! It is by my desk. I love it! I went outside the box and didn't just keep the pictures at eye level. I dropped it down and went for more of casual look. My sister, Chelsea talked me into doing it. I will post more this week on the details on the gallery! It has a lot of meaning to our family.
