Cass Life

I have been on a kick with bringing in greens/ succulents/ flowers into our home! I love how they make a space bright and homey! It is a great way to combat this cold Minnesota weather too! I have this succulent on a doily sitting on a crystal cake stand on my farm table!

I love doing crafts with my kiddos! A few weeks ago, my BFF and I made these eggs with our girls and let them paint them! She prepped the eggs, by baking them the night before. I had the branches in my greens outside. I love re-using them indoors. I had the moss ribbon and hemp and just wrapped it around the vase! I got the egg recipe HERE.

We love using cookie cutters as stencils (way cheaper than buying stencils). I bought 101 on Amazon for under $20. I put them in this basket from Target! Adorbs! I am on a mish right now creating a art/craft/office space! I am going to be putting all of our supplies in this room! Can't wait……

The girls have been sharing a room for a month now and loving it!!!! I am amazed at how smooth the transition has gone. I brought in Zakiyah's bunting in the room to add to the polka-dot bunting. I made the tassel garland too! I love their room!!!!!!

Oh My WORD! These girls cruise the beat everyday….rain…or shine….or…..snow ;) Bundled and ready-- they go up and down the driveways in our hood! Zion is actually a really good driver! Thanks Grandma Loni for the perfect gift! They love their car!

I sure take a lot of pix of my ladies…but I mean… look at them. SOOOOOO CUTE.

I love this family pix! We were taking pix at church and had a friend take this one on their phone. Heart-overflowing….

My NOVA…. .exploring everyday. running wild. talking jiberious. holding her babies. obsessed with smacking her lips and pretending to eat her play food. She is the best!

My Zi wearing my dress from my 5th Easter! My mom made this for me! circa 1987  I love this keepsake. Zion is drawing princesses everyday, obsessed with Tangeld and Frozen. Singing and putting on shows! She has the imagination I dream of having.

I drew this camper on our chalkboard wall, and Zion copied with her version of one. Pretty good!

Loving the season.
Loving creating and laughing.
Loving using our imaginations.
If you would like to come shop at Elsa's boutique or come to watch a ballet performance in our living room, let me know! :)

Happy Tuesday!

Wall Display + Organizing Games

I thought it would be fun to show you some progress on my family room, in our basement. I will share with you more updates in the next couple weeks on our basement. We have been making baby steps to finishing it off. I still need carpet and painting the glorious trim……. But look at this wall. I love gallery walls! Check out here for more gallery displays in my home!

It is coming together little by little. I love spending time in our basement with our friends and family. It is our only room with a TV, so we get lots of movie nights down here. I have been gathering frames from TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, West Elm and Target. Majority of the photography is from our friends, Fagan Studios and my Sister and bro in law, KT ELEMENTS

check out the "C" nail art tutuorial here
couch- HOM furniture
pillows- target, pottery barn, etsy
blanket- handmade from my Mother in law :)
quilt (on left) target
Lamp- Flea market find and made into a lamp by my HUS
Wall color- Sherwin Williams- Mindful Gray

I have been claiming the month of January for my ORGANIZE my life month!! I am driving my familly nuts with all of the purging and organizing…….but it needs to be done. I have been trying to go through every square inch of our home and evaluting if we need it/ use it, or not.

One area, that was a hot mess was the corner space in our family room. I wish I had a before picture for you! Oh my word, it was embarrassing. I scored this shelving unit for FREE from Old Navy! The shelves are used for art in my home/studio Here. I love the industrial look of it! It goes well with our space! I started by clearing off the shelves and putting our huge supply of games in baskets! Seriously, this is all games!!! We use them though! I hope to have built ins some day to hide them, but for now this works great!

I owned all of the baskets already. They are Target except the big on in the middle is TJ Maxx. I hope to stain the big one with a gray wash this spring!

Are you working on any organizing in your home? Do have any fun tips or resources to use?

Handmade Christmas Gifts!

I made this lovely canvas the other day, and I am quite pleased with how it turned out! I love making homemade/handmade gifts for the holidays. This art piece only took me a 1/2 hour! The possibilities are endless for ideas when using gold glitter!

Materials needed:
Embroidery Hoop
Duct cloth or fabric
scissors
mod podge or glue
glitter
stencils (for numbers)

I started with stretching the canvas on the hoop. I chose 3 sets of numbers: 05 (wedding anniversary), (10) year of Zion's birth, and (12) year of Zakiyah's birth! I used my stencils that I got at Michaels and put mod podge down with a paint brush. I sprinkled the glitter on and shook the canvas on a magazine to remove the access. Then let the project dry over night!

I hung this up on our gallery wall on the stairs! I like adding art to the wall to switch it up a bit!

What do you think?

I create

I decided to switch up some art in my home this week. Zion and I had a creative morning and wanted to paint over some old paintings in my living room!

Original- Mark Rathko wannabe. I painted over it with a cream to start over!

I love how its now more colorful and matches my house! What do you think? I am still working on another piece that I will share with you in the next week!

It's pretty abstract for me, but I am loving it!

What do you think? You like?

Happy Thursday!

It is Friday!
The sun is shining!
It feels like summer in MINNESOTA.
Lots of sunscreen. Flipflops. Grilling. Laughing. Bubble Tea. Fresh fruit. Walks to the park. I am in my Blissful state.

Every week, I link up with Lauren and Jeanette for High5 For Friday, showing you some highlights of the week! I also have my weekend recap here.

Yesterday, my three year old was invited to her best friend's 3 year old birthday party! They just happen to be our next door neighbors! It was perfect. Four little girls tying ribbons on flip-flops, playing on a slip-n-slide, eating pizza and cupcakes, opening princess dress up clothes, having their nails painted by our nanny, Noelle. She even custom made a polish for each girl! It was perfect!

I finally finished making a painting for our dear friends, Katherine and Cordie. They got married last fall! I posted about it here and here. I wanted to make them a canvas with coral and navy tones (their wedding colors). I used items from their wedding invite and song lyrics from their ceremony (Use Somebody, by Kings of Leon). I love it. They are moving today to NYC for the summer, then heading to Florida. We will miss them dearly. They are family to us. My daughters call Katherine, "Tia", which is auntie in spanish. (Tears all over writing this... I need a coffee) We will miss you sooo much.

Some scenes around my homefront.........

Deck life. bliss.

Loving my Independence Day mantel.

Roses in my front yard.

I finally painted my stools. I posted about it here!

My Zakiyah Nova. She is my joy! I love her to pieces. Crawling everywhere this one!

Happy Friday!

Do you have any plans this weekend?

Loves.

instagram art + cass house = everywhere

I am so happy that I finally decided to use my instagram pix! They have been just waiting to be played with and displayed in our home! I have been using instagram for over 2 years now on my iPhone. It started out with me using it to tone/filter my pictures and upload on Facebook, but has revolutionized into an explosion! I love it! I prefer IG more than FB. I like the simplicity of it. I have been looking into different websites/apps on my phone for ordering pix. I ended up going with Kanvess. I dump my pictures off my phone frequently, so a photo app was out of the question. I am very pleased with Kanvess. I ordered 100 prints, all 3"x 3". The quality is great. The paper is sturdy and not grainy. I love it. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking through my pictures the old school way, in my hands! Here are some ways I have started using them!

I started out with an old barn window that I got from my friends, Eric and Danielle! It is from an abandoned barn here in Rochester! My hus screwed it into the wall on the top and bottom.

I have been wanting to hang this window for a year and a half now. I just didn't know what I wanted to do with it after that. I love how the IG prints look on there. The contrast of the pictures with the paint. So much history.....window + pictures. Memories. Love. Of course, I used washi tape! Oh my word, I am really obsessed with washi tape too. I got the tape from my BFF, Jody for my birthday. She got it on Etsy. They now sell this stuff at Target, Michaels, Hobby Lobby etc. I use it on everything:  gifts, cards, walls etc. It is just decorative tape. I love how mine looks vintage!

Here is a area shot of the living room! Everytime, I walk by this I smile!

That is what is all about with decorating....making us smile. our hearts overflow. I want my home to be a reflection of our priorities, personalities, style and needs! I love this. It is so fun how watching our home come along........as the days go.....creating a space that reflects my family!

In our main floor bathroom, I used some washi tape and made a mini collage. I am not sold on this space yet...but I am brainstorming of what to do with it. Here is it now.

When I ordered the pictures, I made sure to order ones for the girls bedrooms! I love the fact that Zion can look at her pictures and see people that she loves....her little friends. I used washi tape and added them next to her gallery wall! She loves it! She helped me hang them up!

In Kiyah's room, I put a picture in a 4x4 frame that I had. I just used double sided tape and put it on white paper. I used washi tape on the others and went around her shadow box!

Seriously, I have a problem....... I just love IG prints! Do you have a favorite website or phone app that you have had good luck with? Do you have a favorite place that you have found washi tape? Have you done any crafts with IG prints? I love ideas! Please share!
