LLW//Bridal Hair addition

Wednesdays are a fun day at TalaHairLife! I share with you a Hair related post // to inspire you // to challenge you.  I started Lock Love Wednesday, last winter to get my butt in gear and stay on track!

Some friends of ours at the dance! Zakiyah leaked through her diaper onto her tights. neat.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to style some bridal hair! MY FAV! I styled 4 ladies hair, including the bride. The bride, Missy has been a friend of mine for 9 years now! She is a gem! It was an honor being apart of her day!

The Mother of the Bride had beautiful natural curly hair!

I love how Missy's hair turned out! I backcombed every square inch of her head, and used a curl wand to style it. We went with a loose pony tail, and wrapped her hair in a loose loop at her nape. She looked STUNNING!!!!!!

Missy + I after Hair//Makeup were done!

2014 is a busy year for bridal hair for Tala. I think I have 14 bridal parties this year!

Here is a fun Before/After for you! This is Bethany, one of my students at The Gate! We wanted dramatic and bold for the winter! I colored her hair with a rich warm brown! I love it!!!!!

Happy Lock Love Wednesday!!!!!

Lock Love Wednesday // Before + Afters

(Above:  I simply twisted my hair into 3 buns and bobby pinned them)

Happy Lock Love Wednesday! Every Wednesday, I share a hair related post with y'all! Being a hairstylist + a mom, I found myself getting in a hair rut. It is so easy to lose inspiration with your daily styling routine! LLW helps me keep my "head in the game"! This week I am sharing with you some Before + Afters! Who doesn't like to see some transformations? I would love to have you join me below by linking up and showing off your hair! Otherwise, follow me on Instagram @talahairlife #locklovewednesday and #locklovewed

I gave Amy a fresh new look by giving her lots of blonde and caramel. I cut her hair inverted and layered it up quite a bit with texture! She looks lovely!
Jaymi wanted to go blonde for this drurry winter! It is looking soooooo good!
Sarah is gorgeous! She loves her long hair, as do I! We decided to give it a clean up, by taking the length up 1" or so. I curled her hair with a curl wand!
Val has amazing hair! She was all natural in color, so I added in fine foils of caramel and auburn brown! I cleaned up her ends and layered her hair with some choppy layers.
My friend, Sylvie has great hair! I gave her a double foil, adding in lots of blonde and some rich brown low lights! She is growing out her hair, so we just gave her a trim to maintain the length!
Cute little Zander! I love this little dude! He has the best hair!
John was growing out his hair and up for change. I went tight on the sides and talked him to a side part, while rocking this natural texture on top!
Joan hadn't colored her hair in 6 months! I did a full foil of caramel and painted the rest of her hair with a rich warm light brown! We shaped her layers and and framed out her face with some soft dimension.
I groomed Brandon's hair and made his curls more patorinate with his length. I think it turned out wonderful.
I got to color my friend's hair for the first time! We wanted to brighten it up and keep it really subtle. I weaved in caramel and strawberry blonde tones to add depth and dimension! I love how it looks sun-kissed.

Hair Remedies for DRY HAIR

Every year, I am blown away at how winter effects our hair and skin! Being a hairstylist, I get asked everyday what to do for dry hair/scalp! Today, I am sharing with you some favs!!!! If you stop in at Tala in the next week, I will give you 10% off any of these products! Just mention this post!

1. I love detanglers!!!!! I have used a dozen brands over the years but this one is my fav! It feels almost like a conditioner for your hair, without clogging the spray. You simply put it in your hair (mid shaft and ends) after washing it and style as normal! I use it on all kids too! My girls have been using detanglers since they were little babies! Why a detangler? It moisturizes, strengthens, protects from heat and sun, reduces frizz and is a miracle!
2. It's a 10 hair mask! Heaven! It is amazing how 1-3 minutes of this deep conditioner can change the way your hair looks and feels. I use it once a week! It is great for blonde clients that have really porous hair and my grey haired clients that have the wirey hair. I love it on all hair types!!!!
3. Moroccan Oil! This has been my favorite all around product for a half of a decade now! I use it my hair the days I wash. One pump through my strands gives it weightless shine! It smells so yummy too. I have clients that use this on their scalp too! It resolves and minimizes dandruff and dry scalp.  I carry the "Light" for my fine haired friends/and blondes! I also, carry the original Moroccan Oil! People, I tell you what….. you will not be disappointed!
4. Shine Spray for a heat protectant from flat irons/curling irons. It works as a great finishing spray too!
5. Number one thing you can to not have dry hair…….. is NOT wash it every day! So train that scalp with some dry shampoo! Dry shampoo is a perfume for your hair, while absorbing oils and giving you volume!
6. I am a big fan of Dry conditioners in the winter months! My hair has extra static and needs the shine! I spray it in on my hair every day!!! You apply this on the mid shaft and ends! I used to carry the Rockaholic Conditioner, but it is discontinued! I am loving this one!!!!!

I would love to hear what your favs are for the winter months! Let's all take care of our hair and step it up a notch ;)

I am loving how high pony tails are trendy right now! I simply teased my hair and put in dry conditioner and hairspray to achieve this look!

I got new mascara! I am loving it!!!!!

Hus + Wife hair! I live in my gap hat and my hus is rocking his beard and groomed cut! Man, he has good hair!

Some Tala before and afters! Loving the holiday hair season! Carmen wanted something fresh and assymetrical! I love how it turned out! Above it the before….

Amanda wanted some dimension. We did a heavy foil of a mocha brown and platinum blonde! I freshened up her ends to give it lift and bounce too!

This was my first time doing Sara's hair! She hadn't had a cut in 9 months, so it was time for something new! I love how her hair looks so healthy and full now! I curled her hair with a flat iron too!

Mandy loves warm tones, but it had been 3 + months since we colored it! I gave her a full foil of a caramel and painted her hair with a rich red/auburn/gold! She has really curly hair; so I blew it out with a paddle brush and used my flat iron to smooth it out while putting in a wave! GORGEOUS. I put in dry conditioner to finish it off and add moisture!

Some men B+A! Mr. Luke was overdue for some groomin'!

Eric and his son! We went even higher this time for his sides! I love the contrast of the lengths! Very popular on men right now! 1950-army-Mad Men. I likey.

I forgot to get a before of Paula! But, had to show you her body and layers! I love her hair!!!!!! This is her natural hair color. Jealous.

Tala Hair Studio // Holiday Edition

I love having my little studio to decorate for the holidays! It is my little haven! It is such a blessing having my hair studio in my home! I still pinch myself everyday, that I am living out my dream! It would not be anything without my amazing guests! It has been such an honor sharing life with all of my clients! I love how being a hairstylist is such a beautiful and unique thing. I am a friend, a listener, a care provider, a day maker, and a creative consultant. I do not take my job lightly. It is my purpose and calling. I love the transformations that take place in the little space!

With that being said, I love Christmas! Everyone knows that I love to decorate and create! I want everyone that walks through the door to be able to go on a "hair vacation" and escape the real world. Whether, I have Ray LaMontagne, Rita Springer, Dave Matthews or Coldplay on or the fireplace going with a coffee brewed, I want you to feel special. I love having the space decorated to celebrate Jesus' birthday! Here are some pix of the studio for this holiday season!

I strung hemp across the wall with some plastic snowflakes. Simple. Modern. The key is less is more in commerical spaces! I don't want it to look cluttered! Pick a few spots to highlight and run with it! I like how I can do something totally different in the studio compared to my home space!

I love my transom window in the studio. I have greens/lights and some modern wood trees from Target up there.

PTL for this Fireplace. Sooooooo happy with it. I didn't put anything on the fireplace for decor yet. Do you have any suggestions for me? Please share in a comment!

Who would have thought, how amazing pennies are for a statement piece?!

My rockin' sister in law makes these burlap wreaths! This one retails at $38! Holler!

I made this paper garland last year! I love how it dresses up the mirror!

Of course, I have treats!

My glorious barn door with my snowflake.

Towel warmer for the brisk days. I am selling some cute little handmade goodies that my mom and friend makes too!

two words:  Dry Conditioner! a must for winter!

I am still loving my farm sink in the bathroom!

Have you started decorating for the holidays yet? I am getting sooo excited for the month of festivities! I am working extra hours to get all of you in! So don't forget to set up a reservation today!

Happy Tuesday!
