Happy Lock Love Wednesday! I started LLW to keep this hairstylist accountable. It is so easy to get in a hair rut and not style my own hair! I have fun sharing with you anything Hair related! Today, is Before + After day! I even colored my hair this week! Join with me below and link up and show off your styling techniques or beautiful hair! Follow me on Instagram @ talahairlife #locklovewed and #locklovewednesday

I love this look!!!! The Braided High Bun is a easy way to switch up your bun!

1. Start with a high pony tail.
2. Braid the pony and put a clear hair tie on.
3. Seperate the braid/ spread out the sections to have more hair to work with.
4. twist the braid into a fun bun to your liking.
5. bobby pin (open up the pin/have the ridged side facing down) and pin around the bun. I used 5 pins. I like keeping the ends out to make the look more casual and natural.
6. Wa-Lah!!!!!

Here is a close up of her high bun!

The Ombré look is sticking around in the hair world, and I love switching it up! I did a reverse Ombré on Amanda this week! I love it!!!!! We bleach her hair and painted on a red/violet and espresso brown through her ends. I toned her blonde with a high lift ash! I love it!!!!!!

Here is Amanda's before and after! She is looking good in the hood!
This was my first time coloring Kim's hair! We ombréd her hair with a fun approach. I painted low lights of a rich brown through from scalp to ends. I then took two different colors to brighten up her hair. I chose a blonde and warm caramel to give her hair some lift. I painted more of the lighter tones around her face! I took 2 inches off overall to freshen up her hair style! Lovley!!!!!!!

Mens hair is so fun to style and cut! Tyler looks fresh!
Blonde Bliss for Lisa! I love her blonde locks!
Claire rocks the bob amazing! She looks stunning! It is totally her style! I love this look on her!!!!

I am still loving the easy twist updo with my headbands! Takes 2 minutes and looks vintage and whimsical!

Join me below with your locks from the week! Happy LLW!

MiraCURL Tutorial! Holler Baller

I have been really excited to share with you a new styling routine, that I have been loving. A couple of weeks ago, I purchased the new automatic curling iron! This thing is amazing@ It is by Babyliss Pro MiraCURL Professional Curl Machine. I am selling these at Tala. They are more expensive than the typical curling iron, but works great. They are the only ones on the market! I am always talking with women that can not figure out how to curl their hair. This iron will save your life. It takes time but gives you perfect results.

Sorry for the lack of professional vid....... a girl's got to do, what a girl's got to do.....at camp..... :)

While at youth camp last week, I had my nanny/cousin be my hot model! She has a ton of hair and it was really fun to give her a new look. We took 1" sections for the curls. You can select your heat/time and curl type. I love that it has options for Left or Right curl. The heat settings are 8,10, 12 seconds.

Before

All you have to do is place your section of hair in the unit where you want the curl to begin. With Brittany, I went up to her scalp for the curls to begin. If you want more loose/beachy waves, I would start midway down the hair. Then you close the handles, hair is drawn automatically in the curl chamber. Hold the iron until the beep signals you to open to release your curls! EASY! I love how bouncy they are!!!!!!

Earlier in the week, I curled my hair with this as well. Here is my before........

Using the tool.

After! It took 40 minutes with my hair. I think I can master this under 30 minutes. It took me a while to figure out how to use it. I roughed it up a bit after I took this photo. The curl lasted 3 days!

Why use this machine? I love how it doesn't damage your wrists. Having been in the hair industry for decade now, my wrists are shot. I love how it gives perfect results and the volume that is hard to achieve with a normal curling iron. The tighter the curl/the smaller the section of hair you should take for your hair.

I am selling these at Tala Hair Studio now! The suggested retail is $300. I am selling them at a discount of $275. If you purchase them the same day as a color/cut service, I will sell them to you for $250. I will ship them to you as well! I am really excited to use them on you! Happy Monday!

Nail Art Tutorial

I have been wanting to make a fun nail art piece for awhile now! I thought it would be fun to have a monogrammed "c" in our house for Cass. So last weekend, I made two of them. One for us and one for my sister's bridal shower. I made hers with a "j" for her new last name. it was a really quick project. I took less than 30 minutes! I think it turned out super cute!

Materials needed:

wood (I picked mine up at Michaels) It was a couple of bucks. I got a round and rectangle one.
spray paint (i chose gold! I sprayed it two days before I needed to use it; so it would dry completely.
scissors
embroidery floss (at least 3 colors) You could use twine/hemp/thread too!
nails
hammer
pencil

I started with drying the letter lightly with a pencil. I then hammered in the nails.

Once nailed, I started weaving the thread through the nails. You can do any pattern you desire. I did it really random. I knotted the begininng and end of the thread.

Repeat with the other two threads.

With my sister's, I used teal/purple/pink thread. With mine, I used yellow/green/turquiose. I love how it looks! My sister loved hers!

I hung mine up downstairs in our family room. I like the contrast against the grey wall. I am working a little gallery wall by the C! Stay tuned for pix on that!

Tag me on instagram if you make this too! I would love to see it. Happy crafting!

Lock Love Wednesday!

Can you believe it is Wednesday already?!!! Crazy! I can not believe how much it has been snowing here in Minnesota! I am ready for spring. But I have some fun hair to show to you today! I started Lock Lock Wednesday to get myself motivated to style my hair everyday. It is so easy, for even hair stylists to get in a rut with their hair. I am hoping to inspire you along the way with simple and fun techniques to help you look fabulous! Join me along the way. It will be fun! All you have to do is take snapshots of your hair during the week and link up with me below! (Feel free to grab a Lock Love Wed button on the right!)

I have been doing a lot of updos with my hair in knots/ twists! It is easy. It only requires a little backcombing and bobby pins. My hair was on its 4th day of no washing here! You might think I am crazy, but seriously, most hair does not need to be washed everyday. I have Eufora Dry Shampoo in my hair and Awapuhi Hairspray. I took my hair in 3 sections after backcombing the crown and part. I twisted it in a fun knot and pinned away.

Kiyah is teething her top two teeth right now and wanting her mama a lot! She is taking 3 naps a day and obsessed with our cell phones. She literally just started grabbing it this past week.My precious babe!

As you can see, its not perfect....but it is fun and not a pony!

I have been loving using my flat iron to curl my hair. I use a GHD professional 1" flat iron! It is my Favorite by far! I have used many brands over the years but this tops them all. It heats fast and has beautiful rounded edges.

I put in my Matrix Miracle Treatment lotion spray and moroccan oil here. This was a wash day! :) Then I just went through holding my flat iron vertically/ no sections and curled around my head. I always curl away from my face! I twisted my left side and put in a few bobby pins. I like to do this so my hair is less grab-able for Zakiyah and stays out of my face when I am working! I finished with Awapuhi hairspray.

My hair below is a wash day too. I blow dried my hair upside down with Aquage Uplifting Foam and Moroccan oil. I ran a flat iron in some random strands. My hus thought this was a little puffy but I like the casualness of it!

I am so over the dryness that winter brings. I have been using my deep conditioners every time I wash my hair. I also rinse conditioner with colder water to prevent my hair from getting too dry. Join LLW below by linking up with your post or instagram pix! Use #locklovewed or #locklovewednesday on Instagram! Check back tomorrow for my favorite styling products! Have a blessed day!
