Dry Conditioner! Holler

Everyone knows that I love dry shampoo! But, have you tried dry conditioner? WOW!? Why not use both? They step up your "day off" days like mucho! I can't get over how I only wash my hair every 3-4 days now! PRAISE!

Dry Shampoo is for your mid-shaft to ends.
Think of it as perfume for your hair.
It gives it shine and texture.
It dirties up your hair fabulous.
It is great for curly hair!
I love the Rockaholic Dirty Secret Dry Conditioner.

Here is my hair with the product in. I let my hair air dry! After my hair was dry, I curled a few strands with my flat iron and finished by spraying my hair with dry conditioner. It dirtied up my hair wonderfully and gave it the shine and hold that I was looking for. I don't know about you, but my hair is extra dry in the winter months- aka- frizzy and lots of static going on. Scarfs and jackets don't help things- So dry conditioner will be your saving grace!

What do you think? Have you tried this product before? I sell this slice of heaven at Tala for $20! Let me know if you are interested- I will have a 20% off this week if you mention this post!

Happy Tuesday buddies!

Product Review- Texture Spray!

I have been using the Awapuhi Wild Ginger line for 2 years now. I am still in LOVE! It is the best product line! I have been so happy with the results, the aroma, the styling that it gives to all hair types!
If you want to learn more about my fav products, check them out here.

Today, I thought I would share with you about the Texturizing Sea Spray by Awapuhi! It is amazing! I use it in hair when it is wet or dry.

Why use this product?

+ I love it to get texture with my natural waves.
+ I love using it in hair on the days I don't wash to revive my hair.
+ It has a great aroma.....GINGER. Your hair will smell like the ocean and ginger. Perfect combo.
+ It doesn't have as much hold as a gel or hairspray, while still delivering great texture and grit for your locks.

How to use this product?

+ I spray it in my hair after I shower and follow up with Moroccan oil or Hydrating whip. I then blow dry it 50% dry.
+ I also use it in the hair once it is damp or dry to add some more hold. I treat it like a hairspray.
+ I spray it in my hair a lot in the summer on the days I don't wash to revive/refresh my hair.
+ I use it after I curl my hair and mist my locks to rough up my curls/waves. I then scrunch my hands through my hair!

It retails at Tala for $20! BEST 20 BUCKS SPENT. Promise.....

Happy Tuesday!

My Hair Product Favs!

I am super excited to share with you my favorite hair products! I get asked all the time what I use in my hair. To be honest, it changes rather frequently! Being a hair stylist it is easy to try lots of new products. It can be an addiction of mine! But, I have been using Awapuhi products for almost two years now and still loving them. They are Paul Mitchell's newest line. They are infused with Wild Ginger from Hawaii. The key is to look for products that are paraben and sulfate free for your hair! Why? Parabens and Sulfate can strip out your hair color, dry out your hair, some say they are led to be carcinogenic. I personally make it a goal to go the natural route whenever it is possible!

1. Awapuhi Moisturizing Lather Shampoo! I love this product so much! It really does lather amazing. It is super rich for your hair. The Awapuhi lines smells amazing! I am really sensitive to scents, that is why the ginger aroma is perfect for me. Ginger helps with nausea. I use a nickel amount for my hair. You want to scrub your hair for a minute with your finger tips (not your nails). If you have a hard time spreading the product, re-rinse your hair in the water to help spread the shampoo.

2. Keratin Cream Rinse. This is really awesome! I love how light weight the conditioner is. I only wash my hair every 3-4 days so this is an awesome conditioner for me without weighing down my hair. I put the conditioner on my mid shaft to ends! I don't use conditioner on my scalp at all! It adds lots of shine and rebuilds your hair shaft with keratin.

3. My first styling product I put in my hair is, Aquage Uplifting Foam! This stuff is killer! Oh my word, does it work! I use a quarter amount on my roots! It is the best root lifter I have ever used! It isn't sticky, crunchy, or heavy. I love how weightless it is!

4. After the foam, I put in my "Old Faithful", Moroccan Oil! Seriously, this stuff is the real deal! My hair quenches for this amazingness! I have been using this product for 5+ years now. It lasts forever! I have a pump on it, so all you need is one pump for your hair. You can put this in wet or dry hair! I prefer wet hair for me. The Moroccan Oil comes in "Light" too. Light is great for fine hair or really blonde hair. The pigment of the regular one is an amber tone and the light is more gold. Why does the oil work so well? It has Argon oil in it from Morocco. It transforms your hair adding omega-3 oils and vitamins. I LOVE IT!

5. Once my hair is dry, I curl or flat iron my hair using the Awapuhi Shine Spray! It is lightweight, adds shine, and looks natural. This is my favorite scent in the whole Awapuhi Collection. It is fab! You can spray this in as a heat protectant or a finisher.

6. I love myself a good hairspray! My favorite of all time is the Awapuhi Finishing Spray. It is a medium-strong hold. I love how it has the ginger aroma. Being a hairstylist, I use a lot of hairspray on my guests, and I have struggled in the past with headaches from hairspray. This hairspray doesn't leave a fog after applying either (pet peeve). It is wonderful.

What are your favorite hair products? Have you tried any of these? Do you have a styling aid you swear by?

Happy Weekend Yal'l!

3 Things

Three things I am currently loving right now for my hair.......
Serious Conditioner! This has been been a staple for my hair for over 5 years now. It is by far the best deep conditioner I have used. It has sunflower seed oil and peppermint extract. It rocks!!! I use it once a week. It is perfect for all hair types. dry scalp issues. post summer dry hair. great for rebuilding your strength and protein for the hair. It smells heavenly! I love it. all you do is leave it in your hair for 5 minutes...and wa-lah! Its only $26 for a tube and lasts forever!
Another thing I can't live without for styling my hair is my teasing brush by Monroe. It is made of  100% boar bristles. It adds volume and is heat resistant. One of the main reasons why it is beneficial to use a teasing comb verses a brush or normal comb is this prevents breakage and spilt ends. It is easy to use and awesome. They are $15 and well worth every penny.

Oh Moroccan Oil, how I love thee. This product has won so many awards for many great reasons. It is the staple for styling my hair. I love it on every hair type. It creates a barrier when you apply in wet hair for styling. That way heat won't affect it. It is great for adding weightless shine and creating volume. Moroccan Oil prevents breakage and spilt ends. I sell it in two sizes- one is $17 and $43. The big bottle should last a year. All you need is one pump. You can apply in wet/damp hair or dry hair. Oh and did I mention how great it smells. The aroma is amazing. You will love.
If you need any of these products, come on in to Tala. Mention this blog post and I will give you 15% off.
Happy Friday!

the things that get me excited!

oh man. the things that get me pumped up in my 30's....this week it it a popsicle maker that is A-Mazing! I got it on amazon for $50. We love it.
You can get one that makes 2 or 3 molds at a time. We went with the one above that makes 3 at a time. It is the easiest thing to use. You store the unit in the freezer always. You allow it to freeze for 24 hours and take it out and pour your popsicle creation in. We used juice and fresh fruit. It takes 7 minutes to make. that is it.

You can do 2 to 3 batches at a time. So Andy and I made 9 and put them in the freezer. It is so great knowing you are having a healthy alternative for a snack. Especially considering it costs $5 a pop to buy a box of popsicles at the grocery store.

Here are two of ours that we made. I used organic natural apple juice, bananas and kiwi. They were delis!

Lil Miss Zion was a huge fan as well! So this will be a Cass staple this summer for cooling off Prego mama and keeping the 2 year old refreshed!

I am lovin'.....

Lately I have been lovin a few things...thought I would share them with you! I m in the middle of a great read by Kelle Hampton called Bloom.

I have been following Kelle's blog for 2 years now and I m hooked. She is a mama of 2 girls with her 2nd born having down syndrome. She is an amazing photographer and is so raw on the beauty of motherhood. She and her husband didn't know that their Nella had Downs until birth and she recently wrote a memoir on their journey. It has been an easy book to breeze through. I m almost done with it. I have had lots of tears with this one.......go prego hormones:)

Speaking of being pregnant, my skin has decided to hate me this time round. It seems so random to me to have skin be an issue..but mine is. I have rashes and flare ups out of no where. So all I have been using is my faithful Vanicream. unscented. natural and works like a charm. I get it at target....like everything else.

And its made in good ole Roch...its meant to be. Seriously, it is a life saver. face and bod....thank you Jesus for the lil things.

I always have the luxury of standing on my feet all day for work and when you are pregnant it can be even more uncomfortable. So,  I recently upgraded to some mighty comfy shoes that are of course I adore as well! I jumped on the "boat shoe" bandwagon( not the 300 lb. hairy chest, tan, Tommy bahama shirt wearing man).... But the 30 year old, hair stylist, pregnant , MN gal!
I m obsessed with rose gold jewelry so I thought I would add to my collection with some feet bling! They are more spendy but it is worth it. Between the justification of working and standing on my feet and caring my hus' offspring. I DESERVE> and they are plush. I went with the Sperry Topslider. These bad boys are my friend for a long time. We are still getting to know each other but we are going to be buddies.

At Tala, I use and sell the Awapuhi line by Paul Mitchell for many reasons. First, it smells amazing....Wild Ginger to be exact. It's more natural, not having many chemicals. Second, it is an affordable line providing amaze results. My current favorite product is the Shine Spray. I LOVE IT!

I use it for a finishing spray or while I m flat ironing hair to protect hair from the heat as well as add lots of shine. Plus, it smells so amazing! Often times, shine sprays can be really heavy but this one is great. U must try. It's only $20 and last foreva!

Lastly, I use all natural cleaning products in our home.

My current all purpose cleaner is by Method, and it is just lovely. The options they have for scents are amazing. For one, they don't give me a headache like most and they are so fresh. I have the Clementine and Grapefruit for home/salon. They only cost $3.99, I think. I usually get them on sale at Target. Love. Love Love.

Its all about the little things for me. and here are just a few of Christy favs......

Product Fav.

I m a huge fan of Dry Shampoo. It is a must for every woman to save their time, revive their style, allow your hair to have volume on days you don't wash. It also freshens the "day old" smell away! :) I have tried many that I enjoy.
Usually My staples in the past have been Psst Dry Shampoo. It is sold at Walgreens and is around $8 or so.
But I always have gone back to TIGI Rockaholic Dry Shampoo. It is very potent in smell and works great for lift at the roots. I have been selling at Tala, but now I m addicted to a new love :)
When I worked at a previous salon, we used a organic line called "Eufora" and I enjoyed using their products but they never had a dry shampoo. But now they do! Praise God:)

  1. This dry shampoo is rich in Vitamins A, B6, C, D, E and K, which improve moisture retention and elasticity to prevent dry, brittle hair. It is natural, organic and smells amazing. All of which are very important for me and my clients.
And the huge kicker is that you can get it tinted in LIGHT and DARK. So for my clients that have regrowth, it masks that so you can prolong your color! I have been on the look out for this since I worked at R!ah. Because we used Bumble&Bumble and they had that option. But now  I can offer it too!
For blondes like myself, stick with Clear. I m carrying all three at Tala.
The clear shampoo is $26, and the tinted ones are $34. They should last 6 months or so. I wash my hair every 3 days, so I use mine on day 2 and 3. BIG FAN....have a great day.
