Lock Love.... Wed....er....Thursday

Hi friends! I have been slacking with my LLW posts! Sorry, I just sometimes need the inspiration to flow ;) Fall is here, whether, we like it or not..... But, Minnesota falls are the BEST. The leaves are in full color changing mode. Bliss. I am so excited for the change of season from the fashion side of things. Burgundies. Hazelnut browns, boots , scarfs, bold lips etc. I have been pinning away on my Pinterest boards for fall.  I am a huge fan of a couple fashion blogs that are so inspirational as well.

( ^^ for weddings and fashion)
(dive into those and you will thank me)

I started Lock Lock Wednesday to get myself motivated to style my hair everyday. It is so easy, for even hair stylists to get in a rut with their hair. I am hoping to inspire you along the way with simple and fun techniques to help you look fabulous! Join me along the way. It will be fun! All you have to do is take snapshots of your hair during the week and link up with me below!  This week I am sharing with you a plethora of sorts, of pretty things. Hair and Beauty.

I love a simple braid and updo combo.

I am obsessed, to say the least, with this fashion currently. Pretty sure, I have been rocking the bohemian headband 5x a week.

I scored my headband on Etsy.

I love this simple twisted side bun.

How beautiful is this woman? I love the asymmetrical lob (long bob)

I am dying to style someone's hair like this at Tala.

A fun approach to the fishtail.

Lovely lip and nude makeup

My target shirt- It is my "worship Jesus" shirt. Thanks Target ;)

I love curling short hair. This is Lisa, she has been rocking this "long" cut for her, a while now. I showed her how to curl the hair with a 1" inch curling iron. The key is to keep the ends (1-2") out of the curling iron, curling away from the face. We used Kenra taffy to piece it out. She is gorgeous.

I get asked all the time about Base Breaks. They are revolutionary for caramel/blondes. The left is my before the BB yesterday- and after on the right. You simply, break the base with a high lift color for 5-10 minutes. I do this every 5-6 weeks, and foil in blonde every 4 months. I love how it doesn't over-process my hair, gives my hair a break, brightens up everything, and is good for my client's pocket books. I charge $35. They are the best!!!!

I colored Kari's Base break yesterday! She had 1" of re-growth. I love how it changes the whole look of blonde!

I can not believe that Tala has been open for 2 years now! What to the what?! I am celebrating with you by offering a discount on my Awapuhi Shampoo + Conditioner liters and my favorite dry shampoo! Thanks to all my Tala peeps for letting this lady, live out her dream! You rock!

Join the fun, and link up below, via instagram dot com or your blog and share your style.fashion, and hair favs! Feel free to comment below too :) I love hearing about your favs! Please share the goodness.

Love Love WEDNESDAY

Happy Wednesday everyone! I started Lock Lock Wednesday to get myself motivated to style my hair everyday. It is so easy, for even hair stylists to get in a rut with their hair. I am hoping to inspire you along the way with simple and fun techniques to help you look fabulous! Join me along the way. It will be fun! My go to look these days.... Dry shampoo on roots and sea salt spray and scrunched it in. headband. done!

Dude, have I mentioned how hard it is to take pix of your own hair? Horrible. Here:  I pinned my hair half up and through in flowers. It worked.

My famous three buns with bobby pins. I do this often. It is my go-to look for the days I want a pony.

I worked some crazy hours lately. September brings us MN folk to fresh cuts and colors to go with the season. I had the privledge of coloring my friend, Taylor's hair last night. She is getting married in a couple of weeks, so we did the overhaul. I colored her roots/ and painted the color through to her mid-shaft with a right medium brown. I used a 9 gold and high lift bleach for her lighter pieces. There are a lot of variations/ techniques out there on the perfect ombre. I like how Taylor's flows and gives subtle dimension and contrast. We lightened 50-75% of her tips with the blonde to brighten it up. She looks radiant! I love it.

Join me below and show off your hair!

Also, I am doing a poll........

Please take the time and leave a comment and share your favorite hairstyle right now......Color. Cut. Product. Style. Also, I am wanting to do some tutorials this fall- Videos and step by step demos- What would you like to learn about or see how to style? Please Share with me! I would love your feedback?! Thanks!

Happy LLW!

LLW

Fall is in the air! I am loving how the humidity is not so vibrant in Minnesota. I am thankful my hair is starting to cooperate a little more.

I started Lock Lock Wednesday to get myself motivated to style my hair everyday. It is so easy, for even hair stylists to get in a rut with their hair. I am hoping to inspire you along the way with simple and fun techniques to help you look fabulous! Join me along the way. It will be fun! I have been rockin' random braids in my hair. It dresses up any style and keeps hair off my face.

I have been curl wanding my hair a lot still. I love the simplicity and texture it give my hair.

Oh how I love selfies? Not. Augh. But here is my famous- rock the headband look. My hair is 2 days old here- all I did was put in dry shampoo on my scalp and scrunched in sea salt texture spray on my ends. Took 3 minutes.

I love "color glazing" hair. Have you ever done it? I had foiled in highlights in Shelli's hair this summer and we are going to be going darker for fall. She came in for a cut this week, and I put in a glaze. (demi permanant color). The color goes on wet hair for 5-10 minutes and it adds shine and fresh color. I used a mocha/gold caramel color to tone down her blondes and give her a fresh look to last through her next appt. I love doing this on my guests to add a quick and fresh change. Plus, it is super affordable.  It is great for fall/winter. Glazes add lots of shine too! Bonus!

I am still loving this style on my men clients. 1950s meets modern hipster. Classy. Clean. I used "Mitch-Clean Cut pomade" on Eric. He is looking dapper :)

Here I literally put in dry shampoo and slapped on my headband. I didn't curl my hair or anything. i simply pinned and tucked away. It took 3 minutes tops. I sprayed with my Awapuhi hairspray and wah-lah!

On this day, I put my hair in three sections and twisted it into messy buns. I threw in a clip to disguise a blah spot. It took a couple minutes.

Zakiyah has been rockin' the mini ponytails!

I curled my hair with my curl wand/ using texture spray and hairspray here! I pinned up the sides with a bobby pin. Fun. Easy.

I still am lovin' the ombre look. I got to color Allison on Monday. I love the red tones with the copper/caramels. She looks gorg.

I got some jersey knit fabric from Jody and cut it to make some vintage headbands. It took 10 minutes. I love the stripes on my girls.

I used my 1" Hot Tools curling iron here to put some texture and wave in my hair. After curling my hair, I scrunched in Texture spray. Then I put in some aqua hair chalk! It is so easy and fun. I have a few colors and I don't use it enough :) I braided three little braids in my fringe and braided them together, pinning them off my face.

I scrunched my hair with my texture spray here to revive my products and style from the night before. I pinned one side up and used two flowers to dress up my look.
Some Tala love.
I love short hair on women.
I think it can be so flattering.
I cut my friend, Shel's hair every 4-5 weeks. We use a razor and thinning shears to accomplish this look. It looks lovely on her.

I had the privilege of coloring Chelsea's hair for the first time. We put in 6 foils back to back, creating a panel of bright Red-Red. Fun. Vibrant. Youthful. It is just the perfect amount of splash for her to feel fresh! I love it.

Are you doing anything fun with your hair? Do you have any favorite summer products? Happy Independence day! Link up with me below to show off your hair locks! Join me on Instagram as well @talahairlife #locklovewed and #locklovewednesday

LLW y'all

I started Lock Lock Wednesday to get myself motivated to style my hair everyday. It is so easy, for even hair stylists to get in a rut with their hair. I am hoping to inspire you along the way with simple and fun techniques to help you look fabulous! Join me along the way. It will be fun! All you have to do is take snapshots of your hair during the week and link up with me below!

I curled my hair in the above picture with a 1" Hot Tools Curling Iron. I had gone up to the cities with friends to get some summer shopping done. I used baby powder on my roots and Awapuhi hair spray on my ends!

I love this picture! I love that we all have different hair! I color both girls hair. I just colored Danielle's (Left) using a 7N/8CG on her regrowth and brushing it through. I used bleach on her ends giving her hair the ombre' look! On Kati (middle) she also has an ombre'. I used bleach on her ends/ I painted her regrowth with a 3N. I am actually wearing a fun lip color in this picture. I have become allergic to the perfumes in makeup as of recently.

My friend, Becky had given me some Lancome makeup and low and behold it works. No reaction. I am pumped. This color is "Wannabe Cream". I love the richness of the pigment....and can I just say that I am very thankful for my friendships. Being a mama and a wife, I have really learned how important it is to maintain friendships. I have such a sisterhood. a tribe. a community. I am very thankful for my girlfriends. They teach me so much.

I colored my sister, Cara's hair this week! I love her natural red. She is natural 8-9 OR. It is soooo gorgeous. We decided to put in some subtle dimension to add some lighter tones for summer. I used a bleach, a high lift blonde and a copper/gold to brighten it up. I love her hair!

Here is a selfie.......ROOTS.

Get it.

While I was coloring my sister's hair, I decided to throw in a base break on my hair. They rock. A base break is when you put a high lift color on the roots for 5-10 minutes to break your base and blend the color. I do this in between foiling to give my hair a break. It had been 7 weeks since I colored my hair. It was time.

After:  my base break.

I used a curl wand by TIGI to put texture and waves in my hair. I posted yesterday about what product I like to use for this look. Check it out here. Put in a clip from Forever 21 to sprucen' it up.

Here I put my hair in some braids and threw it up with bobby pins. Easy. Peasy.

I would love for you to join me for LLW! Link up with me below with your post/or pix from instagram. Follow me on Insta, using #locklovewed or #locklovewednesday
